Show CENTENNIAL .-COMMITTEE "AID PJECTS As Cache County is one of the iirsi counties through which people peo-ple pass in entering Utah from .the North, the Cache Central Centennial Committee, at its meeting at the Chamber of Com-, Com-, merce Tuesday evening, decided that this county will be among ithe first in appearance and project pro-ject development for the big Utah Centennial Year in 1947. The committee Is enthusiastic over the plan to develop all parts of the state for the big event instead in-stead of having it all centralized as the usual world fairs are. F. P. Champ, a member of the State Centennial Commission, was present pre-sent at the meeting and offered many good suggestions. Among these was the listing of a lodge in upper Logan Canyon near the Sinks area where it could be used lor winter as well as summer recreation. re-creation. It is believed there are great possibilities in Logan canyon can-yon for developments to attract tourists and hold them for several sev-eral days. Dr. Spillman Wright of tie . Bureau of Fisheries, a member of the committee reported the plans for the improvement of fisning in Bear Lake. A careful study is being be-ing made of the lake and the improvements im-provements made as outlined, the lake will become much more attractive at-tractive for fishermen. Dr. Wright explained the lake had great recreational re-creational value. It's greatest depth is 190 feet. ... .. ' The comi'iiittee was much inter- ested in the plans for the develop- ment of the Logan Cache Airport. The airport is bound to have some military value and in time will be used considerably for airmail, passengers and express service. Many private planes no doubt wru land here and make excursions into Logan canyon, Bear Lake and to other regions. Additional projects for Cache County are listed as follows: Among these were, the extension exten-sion of the write way in Logan City from First South to the Logan Lo-gan River bridge and from Third North to Sixth North on main and the removal of all unsightly buildings and conditions. The lighting of the Logan temple for the entire year 1947 was another project. Chairman Alma Sonne of the committee urged very strongly strong-ly that the representatives of each community work to have their city officers outline an intensive pro- gram of clean up, paint up and general beautification so that -Cache County will have a brand new appearance and be one ot the finest in the state for the big Centennial Year in 1947. S. highway high-way 91 through Cache Valley. 6. Development of Logan Cache Airport. 7. Development of Cache County Coun-ty Fair Grounds and Willow Park 8. Improvement of the slope connecting the Logan Boulevard to Logan canyon road. 9. Extension of Logan White Way along Main street from First South to Logan River Bridge and from Third North to Sixth north.
