Show Sugar Stocks Decline Fast Consumption of sugar in the United States during the first eight months of 1944 exceeded production and imports by more than a million tons Joseph Skeen, member of the Utah State AAA Committee revealed Wednesday. S. stocks at the end of August were made up of 136,000 tons of beet sugar and 545,000 tons of cane sugar. Civilain distribution of sugar between January 1 and August 31, 1944, totaled 4,396,000 tons and military and export distribution amounted to 534,000 tons.
