Show LOCAL FIRM BIDS LOW ON AIRPORT JOB Olof Nelson Construction " Company Noirilietl Low J Bid Runways and Drainage Drain-age Work Included. Word was received by the Olof Nelson Construction company of Logan, Monday evening that their bid of approximately $302,000 was low, on the construction of the Logan-Cache airport. The bids were opened in Los Angeles, on December 21. It is expected that officials of the company will go to Los Angeles An-geles in the near future where the contracts will be signed. Plans call for the construction sof three large runways, each 5,000 , feet long and 500 feet wide. For actual use there will be a paved ' strip 150 feet wide on two run- ways and 200 feet wide on the other. There will be taxi strips, concrete aprons and parking areas. The three large runways will be nearly a mile in length and will take care of any present day bombers or air liners. Total area of the airport will be 450 acres. The entire field will be fenced with steel posts and strong wire netting. The runways will have well drained gravel bases with a four inch covering of asphalt. The construction company will build the runways and drainage as their part of the job. Lighting and construction of hangars and administration buildings build-ings will be handled separately. It is expected that the project will be completed by next July or Augusts |
