Show Fur Exhibition At Logan Next Week Will be One of the Largest in United States; Entries From All Over the West Harking back to more than 100 years ago when the fur trappers raid traders roamed up and clown the streams of Cache Valley to trap the mink, beaver, musk-rat and other fur bearing animals and to cache their turs to wait for further delivery with other fur shipments for the eastern markets. There is a similitude w-ith the big fur exhibition that will be held in Logan, November 13-15 in the Armory building. The fur exhibition exhibi-tion here will be the largest of its land in the west and one of the largest in the United States this year. This has been made possible by the local committee being able to secure the use of the Armory Building from Adjutant General W. G. Williams. W. A. Grandquist, manager of the show states that the Armory Building is one of the best he has seen for holding the exhibit. The lighting is perfect for the judges and there is ample suitable space for the fur animals in the rear part of the building away from the spectators. The ; animals will be brought from the ' rear part to the main floor for the judging. Bleacher seats will be provided so the spectators may see the animals to the best advantage ad-vantage when they are judged, According to the report from Mr. Granquist and L. Ray RGbln-i RGbln-i son and Austin Pond of the local A committee, there will be at least 250 foxes, 100 mius "tfid several .- pens of the chinchillas for the exhibit. These animals are coming com-ing from Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, Wyo-ming, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Canada Can-ada and some from Illinois. Through selective breeding during dur-ing the past few years a number of very outstanding phases of foxes as well as imink have been developed. These will all be on display dis-play at the Logan show. Among the foxes there will be the silver platinum, white face silver, white face cross, purpolina, pearl platinum, plat-inum, and silver blue. These are all recent mutations developed and axe gaining wide popularity on the markets. There will also be the platinum mink including all the light and dark brown varieties. var-ieties. The judges for the fur exhibit are some of the best in the United Unit-ed States. Michael Dedeter of Seattle, Washington, and Arthur Prentice, formerly with the New York Fur Auction but now of Denver, Den-ver, Colo., will judge the mink. Mr. Dederer has judged many eastern shows and is manager of the Seattle Fur Exchange. Wil-lard Wil-lard George, the largest fur fe- tailer in the world with headquarters headquar-ters at Los Angeles will act as chief judge for the foxes. It Is a distinction to have Mr. George present for the show. Other fox judges will be Campbell Nors-gaard Nors-gaard of the Denver Auction Company. Com-pany. Some years ago Mr. Nors-gaard Nors-gaard conducted a fur exchange in Oslo, Norway, one of the past fur centers of the world. Elden Piatt of Elkhart, Indiana, a successful suc-cessful fox breeder will also be one of the judges. Thursday, Nov. 13, will be classification classi-fication day at the show. The judging will take all day Friday and Saturday. Thursday evening there will be a special meeting for all the fur breeders and Friday evening there will be a banquet and dance. The public is invited to attend the fur exhibition, see the animals and listen to the judges. Seats will be provided in the large hall where the judging will be done. The local committee who have given much help to promote the show and make the arrangements are L. Ray Robinson and Ahstln Pond, two prominent fur breeders in Logan.
