Show State Patrol Makes 882 Arrests In August Speeding arrests increased last month as compared to July but the total number of state highway high-way patrol arrests dropped from 914 to 882 in August, the monthly report issued by Superintendent R. Whitney Groo, shows. Speeding resulted in 265 arrests ' for August as compared to 242 for July. Eighty-eight motorists were takca into custody last month for ignoring stop signs, 62 for improper impro-per passing, 38 for reckless driving. 51 for running red lights, 21 tor failure to yield right-of-way, 19 for driving on wrong side of road and 18 for drunken driving. Tlie patrol issued 794 warning tickets with 702 being given to men. |
