Show SERVICES KELD FOR FRE001E L, HODQES Funeral services were held Wednesday afternon for Freddie Lamar Hodges at the Third ward chapel with Bishop . Douglass Hooper conducting. The ward choir -was under the direction of Mr. poulson with Mrs. Martha Poul-son Poul-son at the organ. The choir sang, "I Know That jly Redeemer Lives,". Prayers iwere offered by Mayor L. V. Tool-jon Tool-jon and James Thornley. Special Spec-ial musical numbers were a du- .et "Let the little Ones Come Unto Ale,"; solo, 1 "A Little Pink .Hose,": by Mrs. Roy Smith, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Ray Moose-man; Moose-man; duet, Joyce and Gerald Godfrey, "You are My Sunshine,'' Sblo, "My Secret little Rose Bud," by Faye Sorensen. Those who spoke words of sympathy and praise to the fam- ily were President Clawson of "Byrum, Bishop Richard Roskelley and Bishop Douglass Hooper. The grave at the Smithfield cemetery was dedicated by William Hodges. The large display of flowers were in charge of neighbors. A tragic accident took the life of two year old Freddie Lamar Hodges, son of Alden and DeVora McBride Hodges, at the family home in Smithfield, Monday . morning. The accident occurred about 9 .ajn. Monday morning as the father fa-ther was backing his large dual-wheeled dual-wheeled truck from the garage at the home 4n the Southeast part of the town. The little boy was evidently pushing his tricycle across the lot to the barn - where his father and grandfather ' Nathaniel Na-thaniel M. Hodges were working. The boy reached the end of the truck just at his father started backing it up. The rear wheels-passed wheels-passed Mver.hii head badly crush1" mg it ana Dreaiang nis necK. Before the truck was compieieiy backed up Mr. Hodges sensed ( something was wrong and stopped the truck. ) The boy was taken to the home ol Dr. G. L. Rees who attended and stated that death was instantaneous. instan-taneous. The accident was investigated inves-tigated by Sheriff Jeff Stowell. Freddie LaMar Hodges was born .in Smithfield, October 23, 1939. He is survived by his parents, two sisters, Cleone and NaDene and a brother, Richard; two grandfathers and a grandmother, Mark McBride Mc-Bride and Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel -M. Hodges. |
