Show Urges Signup For State Guard Eligible men in five states of the Ninth Service command Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Cali-fornia, and Utah were urged today by Major General David Mc-Coach, Mc-Coach, Jr., commanding general, at his headquarters at Fort Douglas, Doug-las, to join the State Guards of their respective states. General McCoach paid high tribute trib-ute to "the excellent work accomplished ac-complished by State Guard units in dealing with disaster relief throughout the country during the past few weeks." He recalled the vital assistance given by various State Guard units during recent forest fires in the New England states, the destructive tornado in Pennsylvania Pennsyl-vania and West Virginia and the circus fire in Connecticut. ''Local communities are looking more and more to the State. Guard for assistance In time of emergency,'' emer-gency,'' General McCoach stated. Age and physical qualifications I vary for enrollment in active State j Guard organizations. Interested persons should- contact the Adjutant Ad-jutant General of their particular state, who can be reached at the state capital. Men honorably discharged from the Army are eligible for enrollment. |
