The winter rates for Dairy Production Pro-duction Payments in all counties in Utah, which, Vi?"3rri , -effective September 1, are 70 cents per hundred weight for whole milk and 10 cents per pound for but-terfat. but-terfat. "The importance of increasing or maintaining milk production at the highest possible level is well illustrated for farmers," Mr. Lee 4 suggests, "by the recent necessity neces-sity to raise the ration value of creamery butter to 20 points. This action was necessary due to the small supply available and the expected seasonal decline in production which indicates October Oc-tober ciyilian supplies of butter will be 10-million pounds less than in September." More than 1,750,000 milk producers pro-ducers in the nation the largest larg-est number for any payment period pe-riod since the dairy production program was initiated receiv-' receiv-' ed a total of $64,153,228 in dairy production payments on sales of 13,388,388,500 pounds of milk and 166,308,340 pounds .' of butterfat during May and June. These payments pay-ments were made to offset in. creases in dairy production costs in order to maintain milk production pro-duction at the high level necessary neces-sary to meet requirements. Since the program became effective October Oc-tober 1, 1943, producers had received re-ceived a total of $222,862,000 on production through June. Utah farmers received $438,712.78 for the May-June period and a total of $2,126,807.28 as of October 1. Mr. Lee pointed out that payments pay-ments are now being made by two-month periods. Applications must be filed with County AAA committees within two calendar months after the last calendar day of the payment period for which the application is made. Payments for September-October production and sales will be made as soon as possible after November Novem-ber 1. |
