Smithfield Herd Places High The 21-cow herd of registered Holstein-Priesians, owned by the Plowman Brothers, Smithfield, has recently completed a year of production pro-duction testing with the average butterfat production per cow being more than two times as much as that of the nation's average dairy cow, says The Holstein-Friesian Association of America. An average of 402 pounds of butterfat and 12,194 pounds of milk has been officially recorded. Milking was done twice daily. The highest producer in the herd was Lilrue Fidessa Inka, a 6-year-old. which produced 490 pounds of butterfat, and 14,436 pounds of milk during the herd test year. Testing was supervised by Utah State Agricultural College, in cooperation co-operation with The Holstein-Friesian Holstein-Friesian Association of America.
