Hyer, of Lewis-ton, Lewis-ton, committee chairman announced. announc-ed. Long time plans which include the building of reservoirs for water wa-ter storage are being carried out but the actual work will have to be delayed until after the war, according ac-cording to the committee. Considering, Con-sidering, however, the value of water and the way it is handled by most users, the committee thinks that the greatest need at this moment is to ask the Director Dir-ector of Extension Service to institute in-stitute a two-day school at the college for a few selected farmers to receive instructions on how to make a "weir and install it. After this the farmer should study his soil to determine the amount of water it will hold, also the depth of the root system of crops, two factors which will determine the amount of water needed for each crop. Leveling of land for irrigation in Cache County has long been delayed by many farmers, according accord-ing to members of the committee. This is a matter that every farmer farm-er should take up immediately and each year endeavor to put a piece of his' land in first class condition by pulling the knolls into the low places and leveling it so that it can be irrigated with less wate'-and wate'-and much less work. The complete report of the committee com-mittee will be published at a later date, announced Mr. Hyer. |
