Show Student Council A ppoints Two; Makes Plans For Homecoming Plans for Utah State Agricultural Agricul-tural college's homecoming cele-; cele-; bration, scheduled for November ' 11 were discussed and two student stud-ent body appointments made at the weekly student council meet-ing meet-ing Tuesday, Student Body President Presi-dent Dan Ludlow, of Spanish Fork, reported. Melva Campbell, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Campbell of Ogden, was named public service chairman. She entered USAC as a junior student in September and is affiliated with Chi Omega sorority. so-rority. A graduate of Weber junior college in Ogden, she was vice president of the student body second vice president of the alumni association, and chosen , Excelsior Queen. As a public service chairman, ' Miss Campbell will promote the talent find of the week pro. grams regularly at Utah State and work with Logan Kiwanis club in sponsoring an assembly in the spring to choose the talent tal-ent find . of the year. j Dorothy Myers, a senior stud-j stud-j ent at the college, will act as . publicity chairman. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. J. j Myers of Logan. Prominent in student affairs, she has served as business manager of the Buzzer and an editorial staffs of Student Stud-ent Life and Scribble. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Sigma Nu and Theta Alpha Al-pha Phi, honorary drama fraternity. fratern-ity. Miss Myers will work with the student council in .publicising all student body events during the year. Council members voted to stage the annual "Miss Utah State" contest as a feature of homecoming day, Mr. Ludlow said. Each organization on the campus will be invited to sponsor spon-sor an entrant. Students will ballot, bal-lot, on the candidates at an assembly as-sembly and the winner will be announced at a pep rally to be held November 10 in downtown Logan. Other features of homecoming will be the gigantic pep rally, to be directed by Glennis Pratt, of Kaysville, Aggie cheer queen; a parade Saturday morning, with a cup to be awarded for the winning float; and a harvest ball Saturday evening. Betty Lou Lindholm of Logan, was named homecoming queen two years ago. |
