The petition asserts that .'although the signers are owners of valid water nijhts, such rights are not of record re-cord because they were acquired prior to the enactment of the 19-03 19-03 water law and have never been adjudicated. A Hovorka, Archie McGraw, John A. Wright, George Wright and Clifford S.. Wright, all of Summit county, signed the peti-' peti-' tion. The action may result in adjudication of rights along the Upper Bear river in Rich and Summit counties. The Bear river, rising in the Uintah mountains, winds . into Wyoming and Idaho, and back in. to Utah. Rights in Wyoming have already "been adjudicated, and adjudication of rights on the Utah side would improve this state's position relative to ne-gotating ne-gotating a compact between the two states for division of the waters. The necessity for interstate compacts was recognized by all three states, and the respective .legislatures recently e n a cted legislation which will permit such negotiations among the ratates in determination of the water rights. The state engineer is the authoriged agent to act for Utah, according to the statue. |
