Show Christmas Cards In England Fall Victim to War A dispatch from London early this week stated that the ministry min-istry of supply banned the u:e of Christmas cards during the the coming holiday season. It is part of the drastic new restriction restric-tion on the use of paper "required "re-quired for munitions and other essential purposes." New regulations call for sharp reductions in the output of calendars, cal-endars, and programs and elimination elim-ination of certain directories and all local guide books. Shopkeepers may not use paper to wrap goods exe:pt food and articles for delivery. Posters advertising motion mo-tion pictures have been ordered cut in half and limited to 10. The board of trade also prohibited pro-hibited the opening of any new stores in Britain after January 1, except food stores. The board said new stores were unnecessary unneces-sary in wartime and confined present retailer . to the ' sale of goods for which they already have licenses. j |
