Show Cache Leader Heads Mission A. Reed Halverson, president of the Smithfield stake and manager of the Smithfield plant, California Packing Corporation, has been named as president of the New Zealand mission, the First Presidency Pres-idency of the Church, announced Wednesday. Mr. Halverson, who will have headquarters at Auckland, New Zealand, will leave soon for his new post. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Halverson end their three children, Stanley, 11; Nita, 8; and Paul, 4. President Halverson was sustain-as sustain-as president of the Smithfield stak in May, 1943, after he had served as first counccllor in the stak( presidency for five years. Since he has lived in Smithfield, he served first as a member of the Benson stake high council, and when the Smithfield stake was formed, he became first councelor in that stake presidency. He succeeded A. W. Chambers as president. Mr. Halverson filled a mission in New Zealand from May 1922 to April, 1926. It is anticipated that a change in the Smithfield stake presidency will be made at the quartly conference con-ference on Sunday August 27. |
