Show Terrible Acoident. - E. M. Birks a breakman on the Union Pacific railway, was run over by freight No. 22 at Provo, Friday last at about 12 o'clock noon and died shortly after the accident. He was attempting to nr-couple nr-couple the air breaks of a car while the train was in motion and caught bis foot between the mala rail and guard rail. Failing to extracate his foot, he fell forward and two trucks passed over the body The railroad men rushed to the scene of horror and were some time taking his mangled limbs from between the rail?. The pain suffered by the unfortunate un-fortunate man was so excruciating that the doctor in attendance had to administer admin-ister drugs to relieve him, The verdict of the coroners jury states that the accident ac-cident was caused by enexcusablo neglect neg-lect on the part of the company in failing fail-ing to block the guard rail. The deceased de-ceased had asked for his time that morning but as no relief was to be had he was requested to make that trip and did so with the above sad rejult. He was a man of middle age and leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss. |
