Show MORGAN MAN 89 DIED LAST SUNDAY fredrick william dark clark 89 S 9 ies pecked and widely known pioneer resident of boigan county died at his home sunday at 1 30 pm of causes inci incident d en t to age after a brief i illness lie ile was born in Der berking king lond london england december 11 19 1839 SZ to daniel and elizabeth gower dark clark lie ile was the youngest of eichi eight children on june 3 1864 the family emigrated to utah as converts to the church of jesus christ of lat ted day saints travelling tra velling on the sailing vessel hudson they arrived in new york city july 19 1164 11 64 and crossed the plains in in captain william hydes company his father died en route the fam ilys first home was in in morgan and soon after moved to richville where mr air dark clark lived all his life he was educated in the morgan school under miss rhoda S lade considered the best teacher in th the state of utah he taught school in in croydon for some time ile he was interested in dramatics taking part in many plays on june 25 2 1885 i he married emma S robinson in the logan temple to this union was born bom eight children mrs airs dark clark di daivd d november 9 1933 at her home in 1990 mr air clark served a two year mission in in england upon his return he became a member of the morgan stake high council a position he held for more than 30 years ile he also served as superintendent of sunday schools for two years presiding elder of the croydon waid for two years was a ward teacher and a member of the high priests quorum of the morgan stake at the time of his death mr air dark clark was a good carpenter and there is hardly a farm in the county that does not have havea a barn shed or a building of some so sort A built by him in a civic capacity he served four terms as county surveyor six years as county water commissioner and he super supera the construction of five steel bridges across the weber river and canyon cheek with orin randall mr dark clark was known as a horse fancier and won many prizes at the fair for his animals despite his age he was active in attending state and local social functions he was the oldest man in the county and at the time of his death was one of three surviving original pioneers of morgan county su surviving are the following sons and daughters miss lillie R dark clark horald G dark clark and mrs airs dora rich richville jesse dark clark salt lake city and eight grandchildren funeral services were held wednesday at 2 pm in the morgan stake tabernacle under the d direction i of bishop ray of the richville waid |
