area five point program Unde underway tway on ogden weber rivers area A five point program for water development that will greatly increase the agricultural and industrial possibilities in northern utah is now well under way with preliminary surveys now completed it was asserted this week by officials me plan lor for development of new water in the ogden weber rivers a benage area has been evolved the efforts of the morgan county water users association davis county water users association and weber county water users association these three 10 counties unties will be the principal bene of the water development summit and box elder devent coun ies e will all also benefit under the program plans for the project a ion long 9 range venture call for irrigation expansion culinary water flood control tont rol electric power and fish ind id wildlife program all to ba b lev developed aeve loped eloped under a project of the U S bureau of reclamation in the overall develop anent ent it is planned to construct a limber imber of reservoirs throughout the weber river basin area these reservoirs to hold the early season flood waters for later wr st summer annier use one of the most feasible sites ind id probably the one to be devel ped first as a reservoir in the project is the one at Yar Ya amle ramie just auth bouth of the present east canyon reservoir in mor morgan gan county crying of SOO second feet of water I 1 through the canal from corny springs spring to a point near devils gate where an electrical power plant site is planned from thus chri point the water will be trans faired fer red through a dyphon to the south side of the canyon to an elevation that will insure adequate fill to the davis and weber cou chui coui ties areas from the mouth of the canyon weber county will receive ts wa ter for irrigation of the benci land alove uintah as well as a culinary water supply for city another benefit to ogden officials point out is the elim natio i of floods to the south ogden aria arala that have prevailed during eany season rain storms from the storage equalizer sit site at the proposed power plant the flow of water to davis county s expected to be second feet for supply of irrigation and culi celii ary water to areas all along the line it is anticipated that acres of new land may be brought under cultivation and enough culinary water for double the present population of davis county from the haramia site to oran ard ward and north salt lake end of the proposed canal the water will travel approximately ti 75 miles the proposed canal will be abort 40 0 miles long from como springs and on through morgan and iava counties many state and national bials interested in water dellop ment in utah have inspected w tha proposed program and all hav seen
