Show I 1 T i washington T 1 i 1 NEWS LETTER I 1 i iby I 1 by congressman CONGI GRANGER I 1 taxes taxes is always a dry and uninteresting subject yet one which derri demands ands our attention at least once a year when the payment falls due congress is now considering the revenue bill of the house recently gave overwhelming approval to a measure which would eliminate at least twelve million persons of the lowest income brackets from taxation in 1946 the bill also provided for the repeal of certain luxury taxes and for this reason ten members opposed the bill of the 5 billion tax lax reduction recommended om orn mended nearly one billion of this reduction is represented by reducing luxury taxes 75 night clubs 75 and per gallon on liquor it is hard bard to understand how these reductions will aid the program strange you have not heard these facts through the radio or press there seems to be some hope that a slim majority of the senate may coln with those ten house members in eliminating the sections m which grant reductions on these luxury taxes just mentioned |
