Show veteran teran rail man dies at park city last friday thomas okeefe 63 veteran conductor for the union pacific railroad died friday at 2 a m ae his home in park city of diabetes he had been III one month mr okeefe retired from active service with the railroad last mayi may after completing 51 years of service with the company principally as passenger conductor between ogden and green river wyo in in his long service his trans trams carried many important persons including president roosevelt when he came to salt lake city in 1936 to attend funeral services for secretary of war george dern mr okeefe was born bom in new york august 14 1872 a fon eon of thomas and ellen okeefe and came to park city at the age of three ile he began his railroading career at the age of 15 he was a member of the ogden local of the he t order of hallwa railway conductors and the ogden lodge of the B P 0 elks in 1924 he married mrs marie hethke of park city who survives him alto alio surviving are a stepson step son herman and a step grand son lawrence hethke both of park city three brothers IA lawrence awrence and william okeefe of salt lase city and cornelius okeefe of ogden and two sisters mrs della delia black and anna okeefe of salt lake city funeral services were conducted sunday at 9 p m at the george M archer moru tary in park city by the rev martin burke additional er vices were conducted by the rev burke monday at 10 a m at st marys catholic church burial was in the family plot at glenwood cemetery park city |
