Show price outlook for farmers reported reports from the bureau of agricultural ri economics give some interesting te information regarding the price outlook for farm products for 1938 county agent C R richards states that the outlook calls for an increase in prices of apples grapes pears peaches and certain other small fruits for next year domestic apple supplies are the largest in several everal s years but an increase in foreign exports is expected to result in a light price raise peach prices are expected to continue favorable because though the supply Is expected to iacre increase ase an increased consumer demand will probably off set this the economists state the report listing utah as one of the twelve important cherry producing states asserts that prices of cherries will probably ably increase this year but they are not expected to reach an extreme e high level because of the increase in the number of producing trees in the past few years production of general truck crops is expected to top last years all time high providing present trends continue and the bureau reminds prospective truck farmers barme rs that storage and market difficulties have greatly increased as a result of this trend tomato this year will probably increase in most sections of the country the e economists state decrease in prices in several areas last year over 1336 1936 will result in a few sections reducing their acreage however low prices of canned tomatoes will probably reduce the acreage which canneries are willing to contract for in 1938 1933 the acreage of green peas for canning estimated at last year are expected to increase slightly this year although much smaller could fill the demand tor for them alices pi ices will apparently continue at a low level cabbage prices are likely to trend upward this year the reports indicate apparently because last FlaSt year total production did not come up to general expectations |
