| Show FIGHT CONTINUES TO RID COUNTY OF BANGS DISEASE testing of bangs banes disease Is still being conducted in morgan county county agent C R richards states I 1 that most livestock owners are interested te in this testing program but that a few seem to be indifferent or opposed he states that the thel fedd department is 19 interested I 1 only in helping to rid the herds of cattle from disease there is really no good reason for not taking part in the program this one disease costs the livestock owners more than all other diseases combined mr richards states that reliable authorities report that the disease can be controlled and that anyone who has in his cattle animals with the disease may expect that others through contact with the animals diseased may pick up the organism which causes considerable loss he also states that there is a considerable loss to dispose of dairy cattle at this time but if the disease is present the loss is much less now than it will be at an any y time in ill the future because it is bound to spread in the herd it is costly to delay riding the 6 county fram afif bangs disease the disease is picked up in the feed yards and according to mr richards may spread as fast or faster during the winter months than in the summer time when the animals are on pasture he states it is also an advantage in the entire county working on this disease problem at the same time lime as all reactors will be taken out this fall and not given an opportunity to spread the disease to others in the herd or to other cattle that are free of the disease |
