Show county agent issues his annual report the following Is 13 a very brief summary of the annual report of the county agricultural agent wh which ich Is on file with the county cc amis sio ners it will serve to point out some of the phases of work which have been conducted in morgan county during the past year if other detailed information is desired mr richards county agent states he will be glad to supply information to anyone interested further in these various activities five seed treating demonstrations were conducted showing methods for treating grain and potatoes four eing demonstrations were conducted and 12 seed growers assisted with eing methods during the growing saon season pounds of squirrel poison were distributed through tine the county t y agents office to different farms A compiled summary of reports received showed an estimated saving of 50 25 farms were assisted with rat poisoning 14 farms were provided with material and given help in poisoning pocket gophers 23 farms were given give help in preparing pois on bait and a d spray materials to control cutworms cut worms and an infestation of alealia abfall ia looper worms 1200 pounds of poison bran mash were used in poisoning the cut worms 14 poultry men were assisted with culling the poultry flocks one caponizing capon izing demonstration was given which resulted in approximately 1800 chickens being caponized caponi zed 7 farms were assisted in keeping complete farm records 58 A A A record books are distributed for farm use 25 of this number were assisted by the agent in making inventories ven tories or other ither items of record for the farm 27 4 11 club members were given help through the year in dairy farm crops and pheasant raising projects the county agent was asked to cooperate with the state and federal department of agricultural in the bangs eradication program at the time of this report 1817 cattle had been tested and reactors removed from the herds 22 livestock live stock owners were assisted with blackleg vaccina Aon on 79 head of cattle bere iere were through this assistance 64 wheat adjustment contracts were effective through the year proof of compliance papers prepared and di distributed buted to w wheat heat growers as benefit payments 27 corn hog adjustment contracts completed A preliminary proof of compliance prepared for each and distributed to producers as benefit payments 10 3 sugar beet adjustment contracts co n tr acts were completed in the county of office f ice proof of compliance prepared and sent to washington and benefit payments in the amount of 6 96 distributed to contract signers g ners A total of the A A A be benefit n befit payment payments during the twelve months was As a means of accomplishing the work mentioned above the county agent made 1196 farm and home visits different farms visited meetings were held with a total attendance of 2023 news stories were published 32 circular letters were prepared and mailed there were a total of 2522 office calls relative to extension work and a lid 1913 telephone calls |
