Show LEONARD BROWN WINS N S L CROSS COUNTRY RUN TO CLINCH THE KNUDSEN CUP leonard brown a junior in the north Sur summit arnit high school and stellar distance runner won wan the north summit annual cross coun country t ry run monday noon covering the mile course in 14 minutes and 17 seconds which is about a minute and abid a half slower than his time last year this makes the third straight year that brown has came cama in first in this event and by this victory he becomes possessor of the clarence knudsen cup awarded by the coach to the student winning this event three times during his high school career browns time it Is thought would have been better if the weather had been more favorable his victory however brings hopes that he will be able to repeat his last years mark at the city creek run in salt lako lake city when he established a new record for that event his broken leg sustained in football last fall apparently has not handicapped his running to any extent and the city creek run which takes place this year in salt lake city on april ath will be watched with a great deal of interest by the people of this district out of me ane field of 46 starters about two thirds of the number that competed last year cecil ball last years winner of the mile race in the division meet finished second about fifteen feet behind brown followed by oscar wheaton blaine blonquist and ward wright in th the order named these boys will probably accompany brown to the annual city creek run this week end |
