Show SUMMIT T MOST successful FAIR ENDS WITH RECORD BREAKING attendance the nineteenth annual summit county fair finished its three day celebration having been blessed with the most favorable weather during the period that it has enjoyed in years the atte attendance nuance on monday secretary hobson informs us was the largest ever accorded the fair on an opening day and the crowd in the evening at the opening dance the music for which was furnished by salt lakes most popular orchestra the harmony night hawks was the larg largest estever ever accorded an opening night dance monday was park city day and fully of its ite booster citizens headed by their very excellent high school band attended this the exposition and enjoyed the time of their lives park city high has reason to be proud of their band they gave an hours open air concert on the streets in the morning greatly to the delight of our citizens and business men and take it from the bee it was highly enjoyed this year the jersey breed ot of cattle predominated in the livestock liv estok r section with the herds of james J dahl of parleys park C H crittenden of hoytsville and william H arnold of coalville Co alville comprising the largest number of entrants hampshire and rambouillet sheep were featured with approximately entries the 4 H club boys of the county were well represented in the livestock exhibits with a new pavilion in the new city park grounds erected at a cost of approximately more room was available this year for agricol tural and domestic science displays and a record number of entrants resulted especially pleasing waz was the large display of native and cultivated flowers as well as the un bual number of entries in the fruit section interest in the dairy industry in the county Ls is growing yearly and this was manifested this year in the entries in the butterfat contest I 1 fifteen if of the best dairy animals in the county being entered this year which is a record number horse pulling contests the win ners of which will compete against a ainest morgan countes coun tys lest best the it last of this week were won by teams of arthur frazer of oakley in the light weight class and elmer hulme of oakley in the middle class clam the heavy horse contest was held wednesday afternoon too late for the winner to be announced this week this year marked the entrance of the 4 H clubs over the county into the more general departments of the fair heretofore the clubs have been entering livestock only but this year they branched out the utah poultry producers association has an exhibit in connection and are pushing their association so work to the end that more grading plants may be established in this valley and the increasing demand for utah eggs supplied rodeo and wild ald west acts featured the afternoons entertainment together with the other attractions particularly including the N S H S band of over 50 pieces this popular musical organization certainly h has as done I 1 itself tse if proud du during rin g this festive occasion with daily band concerts and music during the afternoon between special feature acts keeping the large attendance in delightful spirits the city council of Co coalville alvIlle also is to be congratulated upon the splendid condition of the streets and the road to and from the fair grounds the sprinkling wagon did yeoman service in keeping them sprinkled every day greatly to the satisfaction of the thousands of tar visitors |
