Show SUMMIT MEN IT HULD TTA enthusiastic THUSIA MEET commissioner machain me chain of the utah state fish and game department gave the local sportsmens Sports mens organization a complete outline of the work of that department during the last two years as well as making mention of the work that Is being accomplished by the sev oral cral fish and game gaine associations throughout the state tile the commissioner also explained the several era new bills which are now being considered by the state legislature in their relation to the game gam e department part ment the meeting which was one of the largest and most enthusiastic gathering ever to be held in this district was called to order by president D D downs after which the time was turned over to mr mecham following mr mecham george beard a member of the first utah state legislature spoke on the efforts of that body to protect our game and outlined the conditions from that time to date J ir boyer was the next speaker and his talk was on the attitude of the land owner and sportsmen and what would be necessary to iring bring the two closer together tile tho proposition of starting an elk herd in this locality was discussed djs and will be further considered at the next regular meeting arrangements were makle maide with commissioner mecham for testing of the waters in weber river and silver creek and a committee was appointed to collect the water samples and forward them to the game department this committee un der the chairmanship of of J don birch collected and forwarded the samples to salt lake on wednesday february lath the meeting also voted doted the president authority to appoint a permanent fish committee with instructions to locate and report suitable streams for planting of fish at this time the report to be forwarded to the game came department at once dues for the year were placed at and the summit sportsmen association was chosen as the name of the organization the club unanimously passed a resolution to support the leapoint ment of mr mecham as game commissioner and the secretary was instructed to forward a copy of the resolution to governa geo H dern the club is to be con granulated tor for its stand upon this matter as well as upon the splendid start which they have made in the handling of the important problems with which such an organization has to deal |
