Show Foster Parents Hold Their Day May Last Friday May 7 had been proclaimed Foster Parents Parents Parents Par Par- Day for Utah by Governor Governor Governor Gov Gov- Calvin L. L Rampton Hampton and anda a county count meeting for foster parents and children was held in Mt Pleasant in the evening with Morris Bunnell in charge Some 50 foster children and parents from all parts of the county were present for a program program pro pro- gram which consisted of vocal and instrumental numbers by bythe bythe bythe the children the showing of ofa a film and remarks by Harold Thomson The program was followed by the serving of refreshments refreshments refreshments re re- re- re and an informal get The social was held in th the tha auditorium of the Mt l Pleasant Pleasant Pleasant Pleas Pleas- ant Elementary School County Coun Coun- ty commissioners county welfare welfare welfare wel wel- fare board members staff members of the welfare department department department de de- de- de school officials and other community leaders and their partners were invited in addition to all foster parents their own children and foster hildren The following program was presented Opening prayer John Eddleman Eddleman Eddleman Ed- Ed Mt Pleasant Vocal duet Joyce Lehi and Patsy Nielson Ephraim Musical reading Eugenio Bryant Centerfield Selected vocal solos Glennis Glennis Glennis Glen- Glen nis Averett Mt Pleasant a student at Snow College The accompanist was Michael Watson Watson Watson Wat Wat- son of Spring City Talk Harold J J. J Thomson child welfare worker Mr Thomson organized the Foster Foster Foster Fos Fos- ter Parents' Parents Organization in Sanpete County in 1964 He will return to regular employment employment employment employ employ- ment in Sanpete County on June 21 He is presently attending attending attending at at- tending Graduate School of Social Work at atthe the University of Utah and completing has masters master's degree in social work Vocal solo Nancy Kyle of Mt l Pleasant accompanied by Margo Allred Spring City Selected piano renditions Michael Watson Spring City a Snow College student Three foster parents were presented Certificates of ofA A Award ward for their long outstanding outstanding outstanding out out- standing service in caring for foster children Certificates for ten years of service were presented to Mr and Mrs Edward Barton of Milburn and Mr and Mrs Ernest Ernest Ernest Er Er- nest Scow of Manti ManU A certificate for 15 years of service was awarded to Mr and Mrs Royal Averett of Mt Pleasant The certificates of award were signed by Ward C C. Holbrook Holbrook Hol- Hol brook Bountiful chairman of the Public Welfare Commis Commis- sion In the closing remarks Mr Bunnell complimented all foster foster foster fos fos- fos- fos ter parents for their efforts and unselfishness in opening their homes to foster children and giving them the love guidance and opportunities they need |
