E Nielson Buried in Manti Man ti Funeral services for Paul Eugene Nielson 52 were held in the Manti North ward chapel Sunday after after- noon It was the second service service held for Mr Nielson the first having been in the Ward Vard chapel Salt SaIt Lake City Saturday Saturday Saturday Sat Sat- afternoon Mr Nielson died at a a. a am a.m. mApril m m. April 7 in a Salt Lake hospital after a a. a short illness He was born at Fountain Green May 9 1896 a son of Las and Marie Christianse Nielson He served in Co A 3 Infantry World War I. I He married Elizabeth Josephine Lund of Manti July 16 1919 in inthe inthe inthe the Manti ManU temple They had lived in Salt Lake City for several years and he had been employed as a afire afire afire fire fighter at Fort Douglas military military military mili mili- tary reservation He had also been active in church work serving serving serving ing as president of the seventies quorum in the ward and as a Hillside Stake missionary Beside e his widow he is survived by a son Jack E. E G. G Nielson Salt Lake City four brothers James L. L and Edward Nielson Green Soren C C. Nielson Moroni and Niels Nielson Provo five sisters Mrs Ann Cook and Mrs Caroline Johnson Green Mrs Zina Cook Provo Mrs Laura Lewellyn Dallas Texas and Mrs Ethel Lamb Wales Bishop Calvin Keller conducted the memorial services held here Sunday Prelude and postlude music music music mu mu- sic was furnished by Prof Harry A. A Dean and daughter Miss Claire Dean of Ephraim The opening prayer was by Soren O. O and the Manti South ward quartet Erastus Petersen Peterson Claire Dyreng Viola Tatton and Ray P. D Thompson of the ward was the first speaker and said Mr Nielson was wa honest and trustworthy and found joy in m ren rendering d. d service t to 0 h. h his fellowmen The speaker had learned learned learn learn- learn learn-I ed to love and respect him for his sterling qualities The next speaker was Joseph of Fin Green a cousin cousin cousin cou cou- sin and lifelong pal of deceased He told of their association while attending college at Logan at which time Mr Nielson entered the military military military mili mili- tary service Alma C. C Peterson of Manti was the next speaker and told how he and Mr Nielson had left Manti together to fight for their country and of their many experiences on I I I I II I I I I I I I the battle field Wilford Salisbury of Murray told of his clo close e association with Mr Nielson while they were working together as fire fighters at Fort Douglas He said Mr Nielson had the ability to make friends with everyone w wit without i t h o 0 u t indulging in things which he did not think right He could always be depended depend depend- ed on to do his work well the speaker said Mrs Joseph of Green sang In The Garden accompanied ac accompanied accompanied ac- ac companied by her daughter after which P. Parker president of Hillside stake was one of the speakers o 0 Glen Frandsen son of Mr and Mrs Loomis L L. Frandsen arrived home last week end on furlough from the Army He is to report back to Texas after a fourteen- fourteen day furlough |
