Show highway six comes under discussion HOAD ROAD commission PROMISES 0 BETWEEN HERE AN AND LYNNDYL DI last week the state road commissioner county commission e r s mayor rulon hinckley and arthur reeve at of hinckley were guests of the delta lions club in their regular meeting mr air hammond and mr air abbott were the only two of the road commission who were able to come the meeting was called primarily to discuss highway 6 and roada roads in general the noad road commission promised that the oiling between delta and lynndyl lynndal would be finished this coming year and that whatever money was available would be placed on the road north of lynndal lynndyl toward eureka they did not state that the road would be finished between those two towns but that what work could be done would be completed immediately after the meeting the salt lake tribune carried a piece by state road engineer knowlton stating that highway 6 G was very necessary to the war department tor for a military highway and that the war department was very anxious have it completed he stated that highway 6 was considered the number two transcontinental high way ely was invited to the meeting this past week but no one from there was able to come instead mr pittman sent a telegram stating that the nevada road commis slon would oil right up to the state line as soon as utah would designate the point they wanted crossed on the line the utah road Commis commission lion in answer to this stated that after the first of the year definite word would be given as to where the road was to broess and that in making their answer they would consult all parties concerned about whether there would be a T road out of black rock or a direct highway west from hinckley they inferred that they would call a meeting of the representatives from all the towns that had an interest in the road it seems as though the war department part ment national association for highway six colorado and nevada are asking the state road commission to make up its mind in the matter of the highway and to designate it as such and finish the work on it but against all this pressure that Is icing being brought by these organizations there Is still salt lake city and environs not wanting highway six to go through any place but salt lake city we copy below an editorial that appeared in the salt lake telegram shortly after the above activity of the he past w week eek showing more or less he the attitude of salt lake toward any new highways |
