Show I 1 CLUB A OTES those who bravely say they don t believe in ghosts and haunted hous es would have changed their minds had they followed the fidelity club members and husbands last friday night we first met at the home ot of the fitzgeralds here we were each given a paper sack containing odds and ends of old clothing which we donned all the men had the eriv elege of visiting the beauty wreck lers ers where they had their faces lift ed this treatment at af facts the corners of the mouth giving them a gleeful upward lilt could those men smiled they could nothing else but the effect on the onlookers was contagious too and all smiled at and with them everyone was talking laughing and having a good time when ward moody asked if we believed in H houses the general opinion was in the negative pega negative tive Ho however someone in III the crowd said they knew ot of one about three miles out of town it was de aided that we should visit the place and solve the mystery tor for ourselves A team and wagon was produced and we started on our way a happy jolly crowd little drehwing mang wham the next hour bring the first thing we saw when we got to the place was a large bon fire built I 1 in sure by the witches HORRORS hanging not three feet from the tire fire was a dead mant man the sight was ghastly ghostly our hair stood up our teeth chatter ed d we would have fled had it not been for the men s ling faces aces thanks to the beau ty wreckers we lined up single file and climb ed the ladder to the attic every thing was jet black the crowd was somberly serious tor for the clanking of 0 chains and dead mens bones could be plainly heard and bats flitted in the air and witches whisked past astride a broom in the dark faintly a white figure nas a seen moving around stumbling over the bones and chains was ever sight so weird but even at that the attic gasn wasn t half as bad as some of the other rooms which were a vivid night macef mare we walked thru deep sands and over rolling pools and fteres erd pushed by an invisible occult force whose source was inexplicable ta bles tapped chairs rocked and we were thrown belter helter to and fro all the time weird uncanny noises like the lament of lost souls sobbed and shrieked and when we grasped something for support it was cold and clammy and like the backs of toads it was horrid the crowd was mighty thankful when they were permitted to pass out of the chamber of horrors into a brightly lighted room everyone heaved a sigh of relief A phonograph was found and we all joined in a lively and frolick some virginia reel songs were sung and games played everyone declared they rather liked haunted houses THEY delicious lunch was served and the party was declared one grand success mix halloween en and fl delity club and there theres s bound to be a good time contributed |
