Show CITIZEN AN AND WORKER OF MILLARD CO DIES funeral services were held in the holden ward chapel at 11 A M on march 11 the house was filled to capacity with relatives and friends from roni tar far and near who came to pay their last respects to this noble man edward bennett the services serf ser ices rices were in charge ot of bishop J C poulson the good music was furnished by mr and mrs air a george barton and a mixed quartet under the direction of prof T leo jacobs of fillmore the invocation was offered by joseph beckstrand and the invocation by edward A wood the speakers were john wood atty grover giles richard nixon E P F stevens and james blake with closing remarks by bishop poulson J B stephenson dedicated the grave edward bennett was horn born in north wales jan 3 1848 he came to utah with his parents and brothers and sister in 1863 arriving in fillmore in october of that year the family spent the winter there and the following spring moved to deseret where mr bennett helped to build the tort fort there in 1868 the family moved to holden and etwas it was there where the deceased met elizabeth J wood to whom he was married in 1877 it II was ward clerk tor for nine years was manager of the holden coop co op tor for several years and was waa also postmaster for some time ile he served as school trustee tor for ten years in 1887 he returned to england as a missionary for the church of jesus christ of latter day saints he presided over the manchester conference tor for live five months on his return trip from from england he had charge of a company of saints who were also coming over from en england gland mr bennett was councillor to the late bishop A Y stephenson tor for 14 years for many years he had charge of the holden ward choir and his family has since taken an active part in trul shing church music for this ward civil offices held by him were co assessor for one term sheep inspector tor for some time and water master on sevier river for a number of years lie he has always been one of the leading characters in ili building up the community I 1 ile he Is survived by his wife ani and eleven children as follows john C edward benj S blattle johnson mark L jonathan R and pay fay ot of holden elizabeth ann ainger and jane af whitwood of american fork laverne wright and gladys woodbury of hunckley also twenty eight grand children and the following brothers and sisters samuel bennett mary alary ann stephenson and jane B stephenson of holden W T bennett of tremonton Tre monton and emelyna emelene beckstrand of meadow |
