Show UNIFORM TRAFFIC REGULATIONS REGU-LATIONS WOULD REDUCE ACCIDENTS Uniform traffic laws for pedestrian and driver should be adopted throughout through-out the United States. In one state where records show that for every thousand automobiles in the state, one person is killed each and seven are injured, there is a loss of mora than $100,000,000 a year traceable to street and highway accidents. acci-dents. As long as one city has one set of traffic laws while the next city has different regulations, there will be a heavy traffic toll. With the great amount of tourist regulations, uniform uni-form laws should not be confined to the cities of a single state, but should" be adopted by all states. In no field is there such conspicuous conspicu-ous waste of both time and life as that caused by accidents on our streets and highways. Realizing the importance of the movement to prevent automobile accidents, ac-cidents, politicians have hit upon the idea of compulsory automobile liability lia-bility insurance which, in theory, would "pay"' for accidents after they have happened. The idea does not seem to work out as well as it sounds on paper. And even if it did, compensation com-pensation is not nearly so important as prevention of accidents. Enactment of uniform traffic regulations regu-lations throughout the country, and their enforcement would probably do more than anything else to curb automobile auto-mobile accidents. |
