Show MEASURE PRESSURE ON ROAD Apparatus Designed by Bureau of Tests of Illinois State Highway High-way Division. The pressure exerted on a pavement by the Impact of a motor truck wheel as It passes over bumps, cracks and depressions can now be accurately determined de-termined by an apparatus designed by the bureau of tests of the Illinois state highway division. In this device the wheel load Is carried on nn oil cylinder three Inches in dinmeter, the oil line being connected with a three-elghlhs-Inch cylinder, the piston working against a coll spring. This piston Is connected by levers to a stylus moving over rolling paper. The puper rolls are operated by a connection with the truck transmission, ennbling the operator oper-ator to determlno the relation of the speed of tl)e truck to the movement of the paper. |
