Show TO COMIrJBE THROUGH UTAH LIBERAL BUYING OF CHRISTMAS SEALS WILL ENABLE PROSECUTION PROSE-CUTION OF GOOD HEALTH WORK IN COMMUNITIES The traveling trav-eling health clinic of ti e Utah Public Health association, asso-ciation, is dntwing so much patronage pat-ronage in every community com-munity vis- . . ited. and so Chritlmat Seal For 1921 . . . much unter-est unter-est in its work is being manifested l,y the people, so much demand is being tiuiile for its services that it has been found necessary to continue the organization organiza-tion in the field for at least, a year and possibly eighteen months. The exact time which it will put in wilt depend upon how long it takes to complete com-plete a thorough survey in every community com-munity of Utah. It :s officially announced by Jamos H. Wallis, executive secretary of the Utah Public Health association that the clinic will he continued in the field until It has visited and given full service in every community. But, of course, this promise is predicated pre-dicated upon the confidence of Mr. Wallis and all other office and members mem-bers of the health association that the people of rhe state will rally heartily to (he Christmas seal sale, beginning on next Thanksgiving day, and buy seals in a manner that will enable the association to nave ample funds to cover the expense of this continued work of the clinic. When the organization first went out a budget allowance was made by the executive committee sufficient to maintain the clinic for six months. It was expected that the organization organiza-tion would be able to get pretty well over the slate in that time. But the committee reckoned without knowing the interest which the people at large would take In the clinic work. In almost al-most every section where it has visited, visit-ed, demand for its services has been far greater than limited time could meet. Doubling of the time In tuany plac es were necessary and this showed the progress of the clinic. . Now it has become apparent that It will require re-quire at least a year and, more likely, eighteen months, to cover the entire state in rhe manner in which the association asso-ciation desires to do it, in recognition of the loyal support of the people In the Christmas seal sale and in response re-sponse to the increasing demand for services of the clinic. The clinic has two great purposes one to educate the people along lines of prevention of disease, especially tuberculosis, and the other is to ascertain ascer-tain the amount of tuberculosis In the state that the Utah Public Health association as-sociation may go before the legislature with facts upon which to demand a state sanatorium in wEch to care for indigent tuberculous, thus protecting the rest of the people from infection from this oaree. The association knows that there is tuberculosis lu the state, that there are no less than 200 deaths annually from the disease and that this means there are 2,000 or more active cases in the suite at all times. But with the actual figures of the survey It will he In a Dosltiou to to before the legisla ture and make request for funds to establish a rtato sanatorium where the Indigent tuberculous may be cared for and tills source of Infection for others be eliminated. The health authorities war . to know what the coudiaion of health of the state's children Its citizens of tomorrow, tomor-row, is. The child hygiene survey is being made for this purpose and with; a view to having a child hygiene bureau bu-reau made a permanent part of the state board of health. This is an Indication of how the work of til clinic Is being directed by the people thxoueht the communities communi-ties where tt has been. In some of the places where It waa impossible, for varloua reasons, to jrolong the stay of the organization beyond the srhe-uled srhe-uled time, It will be necessary te timke a return trip at a later data so that those who want to get the bnifit of the clinic wLU have the optxirtuniry. VISIT EVERY COMMUNITY Secretary Wallis of the health association as-sociation announces that the clinic will be retained in tte Held until every community m the state of Utah has been visited and every eae has had opportunity op-portunity to get fall advantage of the work of this organization. "The state t a big one," said Mr. Wallis, "there are half a million pen-pie, pen-pie, and the oommunitlee are numerous, numer-ous, but the clinic will raach every on before ft lneves rhe field. No on? should become impaleut r think flint his community is g'ling to be slighted hrtenus tlie clinic doea not get to it at once. To such I would eay. Just be patient and we will get to you as smu as possible. "From present indications It will take nt least eighteen month, and pns. slbly longer to cover the entire stat". ns we wunt to cover it, but whatever time Is required, will be spent. Th people who purchase Chrlstjnas al to support this work are entitled to full retim upoa their Investment; and they shall have thm.
