Show COLORADO RTVER PACT ENEMIES LOSE George E. Maxwell, the Arizona engineer who is so active in opposing the Colorado River control movement, move-ment, submitted a plan to' the Los Angeles chamber of commerre, which proposed to take the waters from the Colorado river and use them to irrigate the lands adjacent to Los Angeles. A committee composed of prominent promi-nent engineers, was appointed to investigate in-vestigate the proposal and after a thorough and exhaustive investigation investiga-tion the committee made an unfavorable unfav-orable report and on last Wednesday September 5, the chamber went on record as branding the scheme as "visionary, harmful and against the best interests of the country." This is a distinct victory for the advocates of the river control, as it is a. severe set-back for Maxwell and the opponents of the agreement which has been accepted by all the states interested except Arizona. |
