Show 'DISTRICT SCHOOL" SOCIAL j The adult class of the M. E. church entertained with a "district school" soc'al Tuesday evening for five of . their Epworth Leaguers who were j leaving seen to take up their school j work at Westminister College at 1 Salt Lake City. A large crowd attended and the chairs in the church were arranged in rows on each side of tne room, leaving the center of the floor for program and games. Alice Cottrell was the school teacher. teach-er. First number on the program was "America," sung by the school. Recitation, Vena Wilson. Sophronia Hawley played the piano. Guessing games by the scholars. Wilma Root and Alice Cottrell spoke pieces. "Cap" Underwood who is here visiting his boy chum, Lew Horton was present and gave a fine talk to the pupils going away. Then came recess and everybody played tag. When the bell rang and the room was quiet, Little Homer Root spoke a few words of regret and pleasure in losing five of their most active pupils of the school and Epworth League and presented each of them with a student bible. Then came dinner time and each pupil was given a lunch, and lemonade was passed by the big girls. In each bucket was a little funny quotation, which was read and caused much merriment. School was then dismissed. |
