Colton was in Salina Tuesday in conference with members of the road committee of the Lions club, especially with reference refer-ence toJ the. conditoti which arose when the authorities in Washington vetoed an appropriation for construc-.v, construc-.v, ing a vehicle road through the can-yon, can-yon, after the district forest office of Ogden had promised to participate in such a construction with the amount .. of ?10,000. Mr. Colton explained that ,i in his opinion such a veto would not '.- have taken place without influence from some other source and he promised pro-mised to take up the matter personally person-ally with T..H. McDonald, chief of . the bureau of public roads in the U. S. department of agriculture. From here Congressman Colton proceeded pro-ceeded to Richfield to confer with the county commissioners and returned Wednesday morning to cintinue the discussion on this matter with Commissioners Com-missioners Joseph F. Peterson and H. -.- . E. Lews and S. M. Jorgensen of the Lions club and Assistant Engineer Knowlton of the state road commis-lC'' commis-lC'' sion.
