Show Milford High School Notes of the Week Well the team played Minersville Friday, and though the game was fast and hard, the Lions didn't measure mea-sure up to our expectations. In fact, we only needed 3 8 more points to win the game. The score was 4 4 to 7 in favor of Minersville. Wednesday the usual assembly-period assembly-period was given to class meetings, conducted by each president. Each class utilized to advantage the opportunity op-portunity to discuss its affairs. The Senior class waited in suspense while the faculty examined carefully careful-ly the record of each student. After a minute and . thorough scrutiny, Mary Vincent, LaRue Davis, Harold Bailey, Jack Hillary, Frank Carter, Eva Joest and Gladys Coleman were lined up as the possible graduates. Some decrease from a class membership member-ship of thirty-five just four years ago. The Juniors, of course, discussed their important event, the Junior Prom, although no two agreed on decorations or music. The discussion disclosed several original schemes and at the rate they are progressing, the Juniors may even eclipse the Juniors of last year in beauty of design de-sign and decoration. But we still say "they will certainly have to go some The Tenth grade discussed their future party and some secret which still remains a mystery to everyone else. Though several claim to be in "the know" and everyone has his suspicions, the Tenth grade isn't letting let-ting any undue information slip through and time alone can satisfy everyone's curiosity. The Ninth grade planned a peanut bust, which they held next morning. The Eighth grade decided and discussed dis-cussed details for a weinie roast, while the Seventh class rehearsed their program. By thejway, the baby class is planning to defeat the rivals, the Eighth grade, by way of entertainment. entertain-ment. Though we don't doubt their ability, for the little ones can actually actual-ly "skunk" the Junior high in basketball, bas-ketball, we will have to await judgment judg-ment until next Wednesday, February Febru-ary 10. Wednesday afternoon the Freshmen Fresh-men played a very fast game of basket bas-ket ball with an all star cast. The players were as follows: Freshie team: Tom Schow, LeRoy Van Wor-mer, Wor-mer, Lawrence Webb, Robert Tom-sik, Tom-sik, Mil tan Hearn and Ralph Tanner, Tan-ner, The all star team consisted of Max Root, William Cochrane, Frank Carter, Othello Schow and Walter McCulley. Well it looked tough for the all star team. All bets and predictions were placed on the Freshies and at the end of the first quarter, they had doubled the score 8 to 4. in the Freshies' favor. Well the all star team awakened and went to work, but the Freshie's score far from suffering by contrast, increased increas-ed favorably and at the first half stood 12 to 8, Freshies. Perhaps it was change of baskets or probably the Freshies slacked down a little. Anyway the next score was tied 14 to 14. The last quarter was tremendously tremen-dously exciting first one side had the ball and then .they didn't. The all star team made four points. The Freshies three, with a chance for a foul throw. Just at the crucial moment mo-ment the ball failed to connect and the pitch was lost.. Thirty seconds to play and Lawrence sprained his. ankle. an-kle. Ralph was put in, but, neither side gained and the game closed with a score of IS to 17 in favor of the all star team. However, another game is going to be played Friday afternoon and the Freshies declare fervently that none but Freshies are going to win It seems basket ball is contageous. It is the leading sport. Though girls basket hall practice has been a matter mat-ter of fun. they have settled to earnest ear-nest intentions. Two, games the Panthers and the Congers were cho? en by system of drawing. Both team1- The Congers Mildred Frazier. Mildred Killam, Eva Bowman, Delia Kirk, Helen Amnions and Dorotny Murdock were opponents of the Panthers, who are, Thelma Rogers, Hereon McKeon, Verna Bird, Valua Hickman, Dorothy Levi, Eva Cole man. The game was interesting and live ly, final score 19 to 9 in favor of the Cougers. The girls have also challenged Minersville for Friday afternoon and Minersville has accepted the challenge. chal-lenge. The game will be played there Also next Friday night, February 12, Minersville will play the girls.' team at 8 o'clock just before the dance. The dance is given by the student-body. student-body. Everybody come Friday the 12th. The Vaudeville has been definitely definite-ly set for February 19. We want everybody ev-erybody out. You'd be surprised' at the talent the pupils possess, and if you can't come to praise your own child, come and watch the neighbor's, neigh-bor's, February 19. |
