The ladles of Milford Heights met in the home of Mrs. C. T. Woodbury November 6, 1924 to organize n club for study and mutual improvement. The name and motto quoted above were decided on and Mrs. C. T. Woodbury was unanimously elected president; Mrs. D. A. Baxter vice president and Mrs. C. A. Bailey secretary, sec-retary, and treasurer for a term oi six months. A suitable constitution and bylaws by-laws were adopted, and the club was launched upon the first and hardest year of club life and was the first club of this kind to cast anchor In Mljford. , The meetings have been ' held In the homes of its members and have been delightful. Eacn member in their turn have been hostess at an aesthetic and esculent luncheon. The year's work has consisted In programs on the. subjects of science, art, music, literature and history, with about a haf hour devoted to current events also an English course. Each meeting begins with responses re-sponses to roll call with an appropriate appro-priate quotation. The club has grown in popularity until It became necessary neces-sary to limit its membership, and hold names in reserve until a vacancy vacan-cy occurs. New applicants must be recommended recom-mended by two club members, with assurance that the nominee has cut her wisdom teeth, and Is then elected elect-ed by ballot. The Pierian club can look with exultation ex-ultation upon its first year's accomplishments. accom-plishments. The programs have beei. Interesting and instructive.
