Show Milford Loses Big Rabbit Drive and Puts Up Banquet What's the matter, boys, couldn't you find them, or couldn't you hit 'em. Anyway the feed you gave them at the Atkin cafe was all right. This is it The Milford sports challenged Beaver to a rabbit hunt for Lincoln's birthday, the loser to pay for the banquet. x Beaver accepts the challenge and puts her men in training, while Milford Mil-ford just sits down and waits for the banquet which Beaver was expected to pay for. Let's see, Bobbie B. says there is "many a slip between the purse and the stomach," and the Milford boys Toundi it out. They had to pay. Seventeen sharp shooters armed -;th scatter guns came over from the etrcpolis loaded for bunnie. The best Milford could do was fourteen make-believe hunters, headed by Jo Kinney (27.) The Beaver bunch was headed by George Cockett (56) Those figures don't mean their ages. The nlan was to take the Beaver team out on the bottoms north of town and lose them, but the snow was found to be too dteep to get out there with the little Henry's, so the Beaver boys suggested that they hunt out' near the Palmer ranch. Finally they agreed on a point about three miles from the ranch. The Milford hoys kindly gave the Eeaver boys a good leadl, being afraid afr-aid that if they got behind they might beat it for home; but alas, they let them get too big a lead and ; never for one little minute did the M.ilford team even have a smell of the good things the Beaver team was supposed to pay for. Outsfide of the fact that the banquet, ban-quet, which Beaver did not pay for, was a grand success, the Milford boys feel pretty good to think that their two high men beat the two high men from Beaver. The banquet which wasi served at the Atkin cafe, at seven-thirty, was presided over by E. H. Bird and enjoyed en-joyed by about forty-five guests. Besides Mr. Bird, the speakers were Carl Tolton, H. E. Bowman Jr., George Cockett. Here is the official score of the 2 teams: Beaver total number of rabbits, killed 730; number of men 17. Average Av-erage per man 43 .High man Jo. Jackson 63.
