Show Fire Wipes Out Towns Wallace, Idaho. Fire that swept up Burke canyon Thursday and Friday Fri-day night, destroying the little mining min-ing town of Mace and all except the eastern residence section of Burke, Idaho, was brought under control at 3:30 a. m. Saturday after having wrought damage estimated at $1,500,-000. $1,500,-000. The homeless estimated at upwards up-wards of 400 persons, were contemplating contem-plating the ruins of their towns, thankful that no lives either of those who fought the flames above ground fflr several hundred miners who battled bat-tled their way to safety from the depths of the Hecla mine, had been claimed. Two persons were burned, neither seriously. |
