Show Indiana recently lost an honoreu citizen in United States Senator Samuel Sam-uel M. Ralston, who numbered his friends by the thousands among Republicans Re-publicans and Democrats alike. Senator Sen-ator Ralston was affectionately known as an old-fashioned Democrat. He stood steadfastly by the principles princi-ples of bis party because he believed ! in them, and he won the confidence i of all his fellow citizens of all parties Of late there has rizen a school of so-called so-called statesmen in both parties who seem to think that honesty of purpose pur-pose and honesty can only be obtained obtain-ed by deserting party prnciples after subscribing to them and posing as "holier than thou" independents. These! astute gentlemen could meditate medi-tate upon the enduring popularity of the late Mr. Ralston with a great deal of profit. 4 |
