Show THE THIRD AND FOURTH WERE TWO BIG DAYS The two days' celebration here brought out a large number of people. peo-ple. The ball games were a success- for Lais Vegas and the dances were enjoyed en-joyed by large crowds. The horse races and children's sports furnished plenty of fun. But the real big things of the celebration cel-ebration were the boxing exhibition on the third and the wrestling bout on the 4th, accounts of which follow: fol-low: July 3rd had her share of the celebration cele-bration and the fights staged ' had some of the best talent ever seen in Milford. ' The first preliminary was between us Bairie, 'the celebrated lightweight, light-weight, of LaGrange, Ore., and .uiLkie Roiie, of Los. Angeles. Few of the fans knew either man's reputation. Bus Bairie has beaten Viigil Sparks and taught a draw with Abie Mishkind and Frankie Darren, and claims the coast championship. cham-pionship. He would have surely staged a K. O. if the gloves had been regulation size instead of twelve-ounces. twelve-ounces. However it was called a draw. The second preliminary was between be-tween Mickie Wallace and Kenny lloilia and there was plenty of action ac-tion displayed by both and if was declared de-clared a draw by the referee. The main event between Calvin Herman of Salt Lake and Dick Wallace Wal-lace of Las Vegas was a good match and every minute of the four rounds was full of pep and action. It. is safe to isay that Calvin Herman landed two for one of Wallace's and was in better condition at the last of the bout. The whole crowd showed their displeasure dis-pleasure at the referee's decision, and all rose to their feet and shouted ro: ten when referee Geo. Harris rendered ren-dered in favor of Wallace. Herman won the heart of every fun in the crowd by his clean cut sportsmanship, and we would like to see him again in a ten round bout with Wallace. The wrestling match, July 4th between be-tween Ray Cas'le and Ira Dern was a rough and tumble affair and hotly contested every minute of the bout. Dern won the first fall in twenty-is twenty-is ix minutes. w?:h the head scissor and armlock. Castle won the second fall in ten minutes with a series of headlocks in which he finally secured the fall from the champion while in a grag-gy grag-gy condition. The third fall was given to Dern, who simply climbed on top of Castle, who. afler trying several headlocks. dove for a hcadlock to end the contest, con-test, and Dern ducked and Castle look a dive five feet to the floor on his head, knocking him out. The fans pulled him bark to the mat and shoved him in the ring unconscious, and Dern in his dazed condition hardly had sense enough left to fall on his unconscious opponent. As ' soon as Castle came to. he jumped j to his feet and not knowing the bout was over, seized the champion with another hendlnck and they both fell '. into the crowd on (he floor. They i were both rendered unconscious. They were both assisted to the mat ami Riven artilicir.I respirnt'on. Cas-'ile Cas-'ile regained consciousness in two minu'es and walked to his dros-ing ; mom with the r.s-iManre of his friends. 1 Dr. P.nrrish. who w:u; at the innteh. wps called to the ring and worked with Dern five minutes, af-t' af-t' r '.' hirh he was carried to his dressing dres-sing room, looking n-.u h wore for the ha-tle. The" hell wn so crowded that if was impossible for either Dti or Castle to get sn fR r ion t air and the heat made wrestling very hard work. Milford fans are of the opinion .hat Caistle is showing wonderful improvement im-provement in his wrestling and are proud of their man. At the beginning of the match a I challenge to the winner was read to the crowd in shape of a telegram from Jack Reed, the pride of Ogden, who is well known here.
