Show Different Causes for Short Circuits on Car Short circuits are very likely to be caused by carbon, fuel or water collecting collect-ing on the points of the spark plugs, or on the lower surface of the insulation, or on the outer surface of the insulation, insula-tion, or by cracks in the insulation itself. it-self. To test for short circuits take out the plug and lay it so that the outer out-er shell only is in contact with the cylinder and then crank the motor. If there is a spark at the plug, but no spark at the points when the cable is connected to the central electrode obviously ob-viously the plug is short circuited and should be taken apart and cleaned. |
