Show FISH HATCHERY IS BEING COMPLETED The flsh hatchery, now being built southwest of Beaver, comes to Beaver Bea-ver county almost in the nature of a Christmas present. For these many years it has been the hope and wish of the sportsmen of the county that a hatchery would be built, but not until work had actually ac-tually begun did. they feel sure they would get it. Now it is n assured fact, due very largely to the persistent efforts of th officers and members of the Fish and Game club, to the generosity of the property owners, who gave the land, the water and the right of way, and to the wisdom shown by State Game Commissioner David Madsen and hJ deputy, Cy Davis. Actual construction work began about three weeks ago, under direction direc-tion of Cox Brothers, who have had charge of the building of several hatcheries hat-cheries in different parts of the state. The building 22x54 is up and the roof is nearly completed. The water is taken from the land belonging to J. T. Tanner, andl Is carried in an eight inch pipe line across the property prop-erty of Will Low to the east Side of J. R. Murdock's pasture where the building is located. When completed, the hatchery will have an annual capacity of 1,000,000 flsh. It is e:;pected that It will be ready for eggs about the middle of Janu ary at which time it will be filled to capacity w th eyed eastern brooV trout eggs from the Glenbrook hatrh-ory. hatrh-ory. These tfgs hatch out in ?1 d&va and when tbe little ones are about 30 days old they are taken out and uut in little reservoirs which will be built in tht streams near the hatchery. hatch-ery. Here they will ' be fed on ground liver until they become fln-gerlings fln-gerlings or small fish about the length len-gth of your finger; then they will be ready to place in the streams and by the beginning of the fishing season of 1924, they should bo 8 to 12 Inches Inch-es long, and will furnish the fishermen fisher-men of Beaver county and their guests an abundance of good legitimate legiti-mate sport. |
