Show Lion's Club Holds Regular Session The Milford Lion's club met in regular session Wednesday noon at the Milford Hotel dining room, with Jos .R. Murdock, presdent, in the big chair at the head of the table. Wr. O. Cluff of Richfield, and Captain A, A. Underwood of Los Angeles, were the out of town guests. Captain Underwood, who was fourteen four-teen years in the British Regular army,and saw service in the Transvaal Trans-vaal during the Boor W'ar, coming to the United States thirty years ago with his family, and enlisting in the U. S. Army for services in the Spanish-American war, made a short but eloquent speech, relating some of his experience and telling how and why he became an American citizen and what he considered an American citizen should be. His remarks were received with enthusiasm and applause. ap-plause. Clay, chairman of the Road committee, com-mittee, Parrish and Peterson of the Community Harvest and Stock show committee and Jefferson of the Excursion Ex-cursion committee, made formal reports. re-ports. Jefferson suggested that every Lion should go to Ely to attend the meetng of Road boosters September 11, to discuss routings and road locations. loca-tions. Cluff, who is a member of the Rchfield Chamber of Commerce, said that he would bring the matter up before that organization and have them co-operate with the Lions in sending a large delegation. The importance im-portance of this Ely meeting was recognized by all present . Parrish said that it looked as if the Community Harvest Show was going to go over big and asked that the Lions all attend. Clay said that the road from here west to Garrison was in first-class shape. next meeting of the club will be at the Atkin Cafe, September 7. |
