Show w MINERS VTLLE NOTES Superintendent Karl T. Maiser was a visitor at the Minersville school for a short time last Friday. Miss Ida Bracken has returned after a week's absence, occasioned by the death of her father in St. George, and is busy getting her work in the first and second grades into shape. A lecture by Francis Brooks Fletcher came as the third number on the Lyceum course week before last on Saturday night. His address "The Martyrdom of Fools" was much enjoyed by those who attended It is to be regretted that a larger number have not taken the opportunity oppor-tunity to hear these Lyceum numbers, num-bers, as they are an opportunity for wholesome amusement which should not be missed by anyone. Principal I. D. Stewart returned Monday from his trip to Salt Lake City, representing the teachers of Beaver county, at the House of Delegates. Del-egates. The meeting which he attended at-tended is believed to have done a great deal to unify the teachers of the state. It is hoped that the new organization will lead to greater recognition of the dignity and worth of the teaching profession. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. R. Williams and Miss Martha Meldrum entertained enter-tained the local faculty at a most enjoyable en-joyable party last Saturday evening. After a series of guessing games and mysterious stunts, an elaborate supper was much enjoyed by the guests. The merriment was still at its height when it was discovered that Sunday had slipped up while all were unaware, and the party broke up after a very pleasant evening. even-ing. Those present beside the host' and hostess were the Misses Edith Axtens, Joyce Kling, Frances Yeo-mans, Yeo-mans, LaRie Williams, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Dotson and daughter Dorothy, and Mr,, and Mrs. E. N. Larsen and son Lyle. The eighth grade took first honors in a basket ball contest held last Tuesday night with the ninth and tenth grades. They took the larger end of the score of 15 to 10. A |
