Now we read that the justice of a supreme court of the state has sent a message to the new legislature, just convened, protesting against the high rate of taxation. Taxes are four and one-half times as high as of any preceeding year. A jump of 450 per cent in taxes in one year is staggering. The North Dakota farmer, if he is wise, will tow balance his books yearly to determine de-termine whether state elevators, warehouses, banks and other socialized sociali-zed enterprises save him enough to pay his increase in taxes. a |
