Smithson returned recently from her extended California Califor-nia trip. J. Mess and C. W. Cates of the Delta Co. force spent some time in Beaver the past week. Arthur Lewis was in Salt Lake City a few days this week on business. busi-ness. Mrs. Wil T. Morris went to Mln-ersville Mln-ersville Monday to visit for several days. Supt. Karl G. Maeser of Beaver spent some time in Milford this week. The Bridge Club was entertained at Hotel Atkln Thursday evening, sixteen members being present. Judge Morris, Stenographer Cook and Attorney D. D. Houtz were guests at the Hotel Atkin Monday and Tuesday. The Ladies' Aid of the Methodist church met at the homo of Mrs. Fred Jefferson yesterday and spent a veary enjoyable afternoon. Rev. L. M. Kelley went to Salt Lake City this morning, being called there by the District Superintendent in regard to war work connected with the church. The Railroad unit of the Reel Cross meets every Wednesday at the home of Mrs. W. P. Cottrell. There is plenty of material on hand now to keep the workers busy. Mr. and- Mrs. Eastman of Nevada, friends of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Dahle, have spent the past week in Milford. Mr. Eastman is heavily interested in some manganese property near his home. - Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Lawrence and sons left Wednesday morning for Oakland, California. Mr. Lawrence has been employed in this vicinity for some time by the Houghton Construction Con-struction Co. and will work for the same company in its San Francisco office. Joe, the oldest son, will remain re-main here until high school closes. O. D. Payne of Yale arrived In Milford a few days ago to accept a position in the railroad shops as boilermaker. The railroad company has hauled into Milford three carloads of soil from Provo bench and it is being used to All in the company yards. Miss Nora Roper is assisting In the State Bank during the Liberty Bond selling campaign and has charge of that, department of tLo work. Jos. A. Young, of Salt Lake City, representing the State Board of Equalization and looking up the net proceeds of the leasers of mines, is here for a few days. Mr. Young came to offer any assistance he can to the lessees. Mrs. O. E. Adkins arrived in Milford Mil-ford this morning to remain a week with her husband. She expects then to go to California for several months. Mrs. Adkins looks much improved. Betty is visiting in Nevada Ne-vada with her grandmother. C. E. Johnson, machinist at the shops, received a wire from Denver Wednesday morning announcing the arrival of a little grandson at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Helen Lyons. Mrs. Lyons visited in Milford with her parents about a year ago. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Ivins were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Wells the latter part of last week. Mr. Ivins is a brother of Mrs. Wells and he was on his honeymoon trip with his bride. Their home is at Enterprise. - " . ' Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Siewert entertained enter-tained the following party at their home Tuesday evening: Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Tribole, Misses Dorothy Phillips, Mary and Nora Roper and Roy Cottrell.
