Show BEAVER CO., UTAH, ACTIVITY East Antelope, of Beaver county made a little stir on the local exchange ex-change this week. It is one of the group of mines east of Milford in which so much activity has been manifested during the last few months. mon-ths. Other members of the group are the Antelope Star, Keno and Beaver Bea-ver Range. The East Antelope has been drifting drift-ing on a fissure in the contact between be-tween white and blue lime dipping to the east. Bunches of high grade copper ore on the footwall were reported re-ported several weeks ago. Gradually Gradu-ally the ore streak became better defined de-fined and wider until this week the superintendent reported three to four feet of lead-silver ore in place. He stated that he was cutting a station sta-tion and would soon be saving a shipment. The stock went up 5 cents a share on these reports. Management of the Antelope Star has been placed in the hands of H. L. Parker, former superintendent of the Utah-Apex at Bingham. The mine is said to be improving steadily stead-ily with development. Considerable high grade ore is accumulating and by the time hauling is possible the Star should have some cars ready for market. The well known Montreal mine, which has been under lease to the General Exploration company has been taken over by a 500,000 share corporation called the Milford Copper Cop-per company. The property Includes Includ-es about 300 acres of ground. It has produced in the last year about 12,-000 12,-000 tons of low grade copper ore which netted the operators a clear profit of $4 to $5 a ton. The present production is 75 tons a day. This can be doubled when a ' railroad switch is put jn to handle the tonnage. tonn-age. A tunnel has been driven 1100 feet. The bst ore is found in a winze 100 feet below the tunnel level. lev-el. Here the values run as much as 3 and one half per cent in copper. The first car from the Paloma in the Star district was Bettled for a week ago. It ietted the company $1375. The values are in lead, silver sil-ver and copper. The ore was saved in development work on the 600 foot level. The Paloma Is loading another anoth-er car of the same rlasB of ore. The Leonora, also In the Star district, is meeting with encouraging developments in its No. 1 winze. The pay streak is said to contain solid galena and it is expected that the ore will widen in a short distant dis-tant to shipping dimensions. |
