Show Industry GROW SUGAR BEETS HERE Delta Sugar Corporation Offers Farmers Seed and Assistance BEAVER BOTTOMS SOIL PRONOUNCED PRO-NOUNCED SUPERIOR FOR GROWING OF BEETS The following letter received from the Delta Beet Sugar Cor- poration should be good news to the farmers, especially of the bottom lands of this valley. It is claimed by experts that there is no better soil anywhere for the growing of sugar beets than that of the "lands of the Bea- ver bottoms. Samples of it have been sent to the State University and examined by the sugar factory promoters and it is pronounced unexcelled for the purposes pur-poses of b,eet growing. The offer of the corporation to furnish seed and to superintend the growing of the beets in an effort to thoroughly test the matter may mean the inauguration inaug-uration of another great industry for Milford valley. There is plenty of acreage,' it is claimed suitable for beet growing to warrant the building build-ing of a factory in this valley and the decision of the sugar corporation to test out the matter ot the Delta factory may mean great things for Beaver county in the future. Dear Sir: In reply to your favor of March 20, will say that we will furnish beet seed and drill to plant same; also that we will furnish money to pay necessary hand labor and extend ; credit until fall. That we will furnish advice from time to time as to the best methods of handling crop to all farmers who wish to raise beets for our company. We are interested and would like you to open up that part of the valley as we believe that you could raise a great many "! beets in that section at a good profit. " We would urge that you get several parties to take ten or twenty acres so that we could send down a man to visit them often, with profit to us and those who undertake to raise beets. I will say also that we, will do all that we can to in- sure the success of all whp un- dertake to raise beets in that section. Very truly yours, FRANK ROBERTS, Head of Agri. Dept. Mr. Roh"rts waB here recently and estimated the available acreage suitable suit-able for growing beets in this valley val-ley as fifteen thousand acres which would include the section about Reed and Malone. He estimated that the rich bottom lands should produce 30 tons of beets to the acre. |
